Week two of our Ready Steady Read Festival was an exciting affair as our pupils from Junior Infants to 6th Class participated in the Scoil Mhuire GNS Book Tasting.
Due to popular demand, this event was held for a second year as Ms. O’Donnell and some of our sixth class pupils transformed the Old Hall into our atmospheric Book Tasting Café, complete with tablecloths, menus and some mellow tunes playing in the background setting the tone!
The Book Tasting officially opened on Monday 26th February and ran until Friday 1st March, with several ‘tasting’ sessions taking place each day, facilitated by members of our Support team. Our pupils sampled some truly ‘tasty’ reads this week, including a selection of fiction and non-fiction books, Graphic Novels, Silent books and Picture books, and featured a selection of international authors and homegrown talent.
Following the success of our Book Swap last week and exploring new styles of books at the Book Tasting this week, our pupils compiled their ‘wish list’ of books that they wanted for their class library, and every class received a special delivery of new library books on Friday afternoon, to further motivate our pupils on their reading journey.
