The Ruaille Buaille Music Festival takes place in Lucan every June and Scoil Mhuire GNS has always been lucky to be involved in many workshops in the school over the years.
This year, a group of pupils from our three 5th classes worked with musician and composer Matthew Berrill to create a piece of music inspired by the waters of the the river running through Lucan. The project was called The Lucan Waters. The pupils had great fun in the interactive workshops with Matthew and then performed these pieces on their tin whistles for the school in a concert in the Old Hall. Matthew performed a mix of different songs with two other musicians and pupils and staff thoroughly enjoyed the show.
As part of our Creative Schools involvement, pupils in 5th class have been learning tin whistle with musician Claire Sherry and a group of these pupils then performed some of the songs they have been learning with Claire at the Ruaille Buaille Festival in Griffeen Park on June 15th. Well done to this group for another fantastic performance!
Thank you to Matthew Berrill, Claire Sherry and Caroline Wynne for organising these workshops.
