🎉 A Big Congratulations to Our Readalong Sponsorship Card Design Winners! 🎨

We are delighted to announce the winners of this year’s Readalong Sponsorship Card Design Competition! Huge congratulations goes to Sorcha Lawson and Isla Meehan in First Class, Connie McCormack in Fourth Class, and Michelle Antwi in Sixth Class! These talented artists impressed us all with their brilliant designs, and their artwork will proudly feature on the official Readalong sponsorship cards for 2025. Well done, everyone! 👏✨

Now, let’s gear up for the main event – Readalong 2025, part of our school's wider Ready Steady Read Festival! 📚✨ This festival, now in its third year, is all about celebrating the magic of books and fostering a love of reading in every student. From Monday, 24th February to Friday, 28th March, pupils will be reading books and collecting sponsorships from family and friends to support their efforts.

The Readalong fundraiser plays a key role in the festival, and all the money raised will go towards the creation of a new all-weather, multi-sport pitch on our school grounds to ensure our students enjoy year-round sports activities. 🏃‍♂️⚽We will also use some of the monies raised to restock our classroom libraries with new and exciting titles to inspire our students to continue their literacy journey.

Even our youngest readers can join in! We encourage parents to help their little ones participate by:

  1. Reading together: Record the titles of books you read with your child on their Readalong sponsorship card.
  2. Building reading habits: Include regular reading times, like a cosy bedtime story, into your routine.
  3. Listening to audiobooks: Audiobooks are a fun way to explore new stories!
  4. Exploring online resources: Websites like Storyline Online offer videos of actors reading children's books.
  5. Visiting Lucan Library: A trip to the library can spark new reading adventures.

When the Readalong concludes on 28th March, pupils will return their completed sponsorship cards and any donations they've collected.

Thank you so much for your ongoing support! We can’t wait to see the entire school come together for another successful Ready Steady Read Festival. And once again, a big congratulations to our talented card design winners, Sorcha, Isla, Connie, and Michelle! 🎉📖
