Wild Weeds Animation

As part of our involvement in the Creative Schools programme, Scoil Mhuire GNS were given the wonderful opportunity to work with two artists, Brenda Kearney and Fergal Brennan. In June last year Brenda and Fergal visited the school and worked with Ms Farrell’s 5th Class and Ms Greally’s 2nd Class. They led the pupils through the Wild Weeds animation workshops. Pupils explored the different plant and animal life found in our outdoor areas and learned about biodiversity and why it is important. The children worked together with Brenda and Fergal to create beautiful drawings which Brenda and Fergal then took away with them and transformed them into an amazing animation. In November 2023 Brenda and Fergal returned to the school to show the final animation to the pupils who are now in 3rd and 6th Class. Pupils and staff really enjoyed seeing the pupils’ creativity shining through in the animation.

Thank you to Brenda Kearney, Fergal Brennan, Niamh Honer and Melanie May for organising these workshops for our school.
