What's on the menu? Scoil Mhuire GNS hosts it's first ever Book Tasting event.
It’s week two of our Ready Steady Read Festival and our pupils in 1st-6th Class have been participating in Scoil Mhuire’s first ever Book Tasting.
Ms. O’Donnell, and Ms. Callanan, with the support of the rest of the Ready Steady Read Festival team, transformed the Old Hall into the newest, and most popular restaurant in Lucan, complete with tablecloths, menus and even some soothing mood music playing in the background!
The Book Tasting officially opened on Monday 27th February with several sessions taking place each day, facilitated by members of our Support team. Our pupils are sampling some truly ‘tasty’ reads this week including a selection of fiction and non-fiction books, Graphic Novels, Silent books and a selection of books in digital format such as ‘Talking Books’ and ‘Audio Books’ which were made available courtesy of Lucan Library / South County Dublin Libraries via their Borrowbox and Ivox Apps. These Apps are free to download and offer digital libraries that can be accessed by anyone with a Library Membership card. Yet another good reason to sign your child or other family members up for membership of Lucan Library.
Following the success of our Book Fair last week and exploring new styles of books at the Book Tasting this week, our pupils are now compiling their ‘wish list’ of books that they would like to see in their class library. Our class teachers will use these wish lists as a guide in the coming weeks as we source new book titles to encourage our pupils to continue on their reading journey and to nurture their enthusiasm for reading.
