We had a very special visitor to our school today. Irish author and illustrator, Mary Murphy facilitated three workshops in the Old Hall and really got our pupils' creativity flowing!
Pupils in Ms. Millea’s and Ms. Mulligan’s first classes enjoyed a reading of one of Mary's latest books entitled 'I Love You' and this was followed by a mixed media illustration based activity, incorporating collage, oil pastels and other media featuring the lead character of the story.
Senior Infants were also treated to an Illustrators workshop and a reading of 'A Kiss Like This' while 4th class heard Mary read from her latest novel 'Minute Minders' and had an indepth Q & A session where pupils asked questions about writing methodologies, the creative process and the realities of working as an author and illustrator. The event was great fun, high energy, tremendously interactive and a wonderful way to share the exciting world of books with Scoil Mhuire's readers. The gallery below features lots of photographs from the day’s events.
Many thanks to Mary Murphy for taking time out from her busy schedule to share her experience as a writer and illustrator with us today.
Our Ready Steady Read Festival continues until Friday 22nd March with lots of fun activities scheduled for all class levels over the coming days.
