December has been a fun-filled and exciting month at Scoil Mhuire Girls' National School! Our Christmas celebrations kicked off with a festive Christmas Jumper Day fundraiser in aid of CHI Crumlin, where we raised an incredible €1,101.50. A huge thank you to Ms. Gavan for organizing this fantastic event and to everyone who participated—what a great achievement for such a worthy cause!

One of the highlights of the season is always our Christmas Concerts, and this year was no exception. We were treated to fantastic performances across several classes.

  • Third Class opened the season on Tuesday, 10th December, with their delightful retelling of the Nativity in "It's a Party!".
  • On Wednesday, 11th December, First Class followed with "There's Something Special Going On", a heartwarming story about a little angel discovering the true meaning of Christmas.
  • Senior Infants brought their Christmas joy, sharing an uplifting tale of the star of Bethlehem with their production of "The Gigantic Star".
  • The youngest performers, Junior Infants, made their debut on the 12th of December, delighting their families with a charming selection of songs in their first-ever Christmas concert in ‘big school’.
  • Second Class entertained their parents and extended family on the 16th of December with their feel-good festive concert, while Fourth Class dazzled the audience on the 18th of December with their production of "Lights, Camel, Action!".

For those who missed it or want to relive the magic, a link for the recording of each concert has been shared by email, with parents by each class teacher.

The festive spirit continued with our Annual Sale of Work in aid of St. Vincent de Paul. The event, held on Friday, 13th December, featured everything from toys and treats to face painting, a Christmas cinema room, and Santa’s Grotto. The day was topped off by our highly anticipated hamper raffles, raising a staggering €7,130 for St. Vincent de Paul! Huge congratulations and thanks to Ms. Gavan, Ms. Daly, Ms. Ward, and the hardworking Sixth Class pupils for organising such a memorable and successful event.

We wrapped up our festive programme with a beautiful Christmas Carol Service on Wednesday, 18th December, at St. Mary’s Church in Lucan. Our talented Fifth Class Choir, directed by Ms. Gavan and accompanied by Ms. Walsh on the organ, sang traditional carols, with stunning solo performances by Hannah Burke, Isabella Magee, Amelia Johnston, and Maeve Mantoufeh. The choir's music set a perfect narrative for the Nativity Scene, where pupils from each class represented the First Christmas. Many thanks to Ms. Byrne, Ms. Gleeson and Ms. Mulrooney for their efforts in preparing the Carol Service Nativity Scene.

A heartfelt thank you to all the pupils, teachers, and staff involved in making this Christmas season truly special.

We wish everyone a wonderful Christmas break and look forward to seeing you in the New Year!
